Theatre scheme to Raise funds is ‘Quality’ idea

(Henley Standard 28/10/04)

The Kenton Theatre, Henley has teamed up with new local business Quality Directory as part of its bi-centenary appeal. The theatre which is 200 years old in November 2005 is urgently in need of funds for a number of repair programmes and the Quality Directory has come up with a way to help raise money. Based in Sonning Common, Quality Directory finds recommended good quality local suppliers for people in Oxfordshire and Berkshire via an internet directory. Quality Directory will help raise funds for Kenton Theatre by asking anyone associated with the theatre to recommend good quality suppliers that they have used in the past year. These suppliers will be invited to advertise on the site with a donation going to the Kenton Theatre bi-centenary appeal.

Says owner Sebastian Brown "it's a great way of showing that a new business can help the local community".

Kenton Theatre, which is run on a voluntary basis, has a number of projects from a new canopy to a total refurbishment of the ladies and gents toilets. The project will span a two year period and fundraising manager, Wendy Bowsher said "We are the fourth oldest working theatre in Britain and an integral part of the Henley community. We desperately need this work to be done, but we rely heavily on donations. Thanks to an article in the Standard, we had a great response from the people of Henley and Quality Directory quickly told us how they wanted to help.

The Quality Directory launched in May 2004 and residents can use the website to find a wide range of local trades and services for both their homes and businesses. Only recommended businesses can advertise and their customer's recommendations are published next their entry.

To recommend a business visit www.qualitydirectory.co.uk or call 08456 443776. For further information about Kenton Theatre's appeal or to make a donation, call Wendy Bowsher on 01491 579248.
